We all love our superheroes, they fight for us tirelessly and always save the day. We all wish we had those powers or be friends with one of them. But we actually do have superheroes in our lives, very close to us. They are our Mothers. They move at lightning speed to get all the work done, they protect us from sickness with their shields of care and they find things that you can’t with their x-ray vision. Many of our superheroes have been influenced by their mothers and the mothers have played a very important role in making them super. Let’s look at some of the best ones.
Nora Allen – Flash’s mother has played a very important role in making flash the superhero he is. At a young age, Barry saw his mother being murdered by his later nemesis Reverse Flash. Barry then dedicates his life to getting his father who was accused of this crime out of jail and later becomes the flash and imprisons the real murderer. In FlashPoint, Barry actually runs back in time and saves his mother from Reverse Flash cause he loves her so much, but at the end, he had to put the timeline in order again. Nora Allen is always there with Flash in spirit whenever he decides to run.
Aunt May – She may not be Peter’s real parent but Aunt May is literally like his real mother. She is the one who is always looking out for him no matter what. Sometimes she may be a bit overprotective, but whose mother isn’t? When Peter’s parents died, Aunt May took him in and has cared for him throughout his life and put him into college. If she isn’t a mother, we don’t know who is.
Martha Kent – Finding a baby, an alien baby on your doorstep is a shock, now imagine it has powers and you have to take care of it. But did Martha Kent complain? Nope, she took Clark in as her own son, clothed and bathed him and instilled values in him that makes him Superman today. Till date, even in his biggest showdown with Batman, he remembers how much Martha has done for him and how life gave him another mother when he lost his first one.
Lilly Potter – Harry may not be a Superhero but he did save the world from you-know-who. But that wouldn’t be possible if Lilly Potter, his mother had not sacrificed herself to save Harry. That was the last and final gift that Lilly left her son, where Voldemort couldn’t lay a finger on him. So much so that Harry inspired by that pulls the same stunt in the final book which helps in defeating Voldemort.
There are many other superhero moms who we would want to add but the list will keep going on with no end. We bow down and salute all the mothers of the world. We wish you a very happy Mother’s Day.
