“We have to be ready — you, me, the others,” Batman says in the Justice League trailer, “There’s an attack coming from far away.” Wonder Woman replies, “Not coming, Bruce. It’s already here. The others…where are they?”….and the League Unites!
After posting teasers with the first look of each character, the two and a half minute long, action-packed Justice League Trailer was unveiled on Saturday, 26th March. It thoroughly introduces the Aquaman and Cyborg, while putting a brief light on Flash’s father, Henry, Aquaman’s love interest Mera (you’ll see more of her in 2018’s Aquaman) and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. But the biggest question is, where’s the Man of Steel?
Directed by Zack Snyder, the epic montage of heroes coming together to battle the enemies hits theaters on November, 17, 2017.
Let’s take a closer look at the trailer:
The Beatles’ “Coming Together”
Coming straight to the point, the soundtrack does pure justice to the introduction of the storyline. Fans of rock must instantly recognize the track from The Beatles’ Abbey Road, which was later covered by Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, and Joe Cracker.
Slightly revamped, this guitar heavy and thumping version of “Coming Together” brings together dark and strange ideas with a chorus that’s all about unity, and that’s exactly what DCEU’s Justice League is all about! The only way to fight the unseen bad guy is by Coming Together, Right Now, and we couldn’t agree more!
DCEU’s Justice League and Marvel’s Avengers
DCEU’s Justice League is an answer to Marvel’s Avengers. Perhaps, not many people know that Justice League first appeared in “The Brave and the Bold” back in March 1960, while Avengers made its way to Marvel comics in September 1963 – approximately three years after the release of Justice League. This makes JL the clear winner!
However, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was the first one to come up with its game-changing extravagant Avengers movie, bringing together all superheroes from the pages of Marvel’s comics to life. With that being said, it surely has inherent advantage over DC, especially in the segment of non-comic readers.
On the flip side, DC’s justice league is known to have powerful heroes with dynamic powers that in itself demands a gargantuan cinematic showdown. With Zack’s direction, who’s one mind-blowing filmmaker, this movie has ton of potential of being 2017’s best superhero movie – atleast that’s the vibe we got from the trailer!
Absence of Superman
That demands one hell of thought-process, and most fans have already started bombarding the internet with their theories. One intriguing theory is that Superman, who was last seen six feet under, could return as the bad guy in the movie. The black costume in the teaser and the dream sequence in Batman v/s Superman supports this theory.
Superman sacrificed himself to end the doomsday in Dawn of Justice. The mythology has it that Superman only seems to be dead until the end of the Doomsday that means he comes back even stronger, but how, is still a mystery in regard to Justice League. Here’s Zack Snyder’s brief revelation on this subject:
“It’s hard to have a Justice League without Superman. That’s how I feel about it,” the director joked. “It was always a super-intriguing concept to me to have this opportunity to have him make that sacrifice but also have him be this, in a weird sort of way, the why of Justice League: What do you do now with him? What does the team think? What does the world need? All that comes into play. It’s fun for us but it’ll be interesting for audiences what we do with him.”
Lois Lane’s brief appearance, perhaps, infer the presence of Superman. It’s just a matter of time that we get to know how and when Cavill enters the scenario.
The Bad Guys
Even though the trailer did not reveal much about the Bad Guy, in particular, the Leader of the faceless drone villains, we are assuming that these are the same aliens that we saw in Dawn of Justice. What is definite is that these parademons have invaded Earth as they did in the New 52 reboot in the comic books, and probably work for Darkseid, the big bad guy of the DCEU.
Justice League will reunite Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Ezra Miller as The Flash, along with Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, and Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf.
