Earth is one of the planets that rotate around the Sun, the star that binds our solar system together. Our solar system, is in fact one of the many other such solar systems located in a small neighbourhood in the local spur arm of our galaxy, the Milky Way. The Milky Way, in turn, is just one of the 50 galaxies of our local group. And after that, our local group is just one of the many other groups that form our universe. Woah! Yes, that’s what my reaction was when I first learned about our universe. It was actually a sort of an epiphany that occurred to me at that moment. And, it was because I was watching a documentary about space that explored NASA’s findings. As kids, most of us wanted to work at NASA because they were the people that were going out in space and finding extra-terrestrial life. Maybe they already had found one? Watching the astronauts float aboard the International Space Station, and watching over the earth as guarding angels, it all seemed like the work of our dreams.
NASA, till date, continues to inspire us with their vision, and their achievements in the field of space exploration. It was the Hubble telescope that gave us the first complete picture of the visible universe back in 2014. That image was a composite of data gathered from 2003 to 2012. The Curiosity Rover that was sent to Mars by Nasa in 2011. The rover has been sending back data ever since and has helped tremendously in understanding the landscape of the red planet that is most likely to host human life in the future. NASA’s achievements are hard to put into a list. There’s a lot to learn from this bunch of scientists that are pushing the boundaries of humanity every day they go to work. NASA’s website has a great deal of information on space and is a depository of learning material and interesting stuff. Their live feed of the International Space Station is a treat to watch. It’s as close as we can get to the experience of being on the ISS. Furthermore, NASA also has an entire students section on their website that showcases new videos, articles, and other interesting space programs suitable for kids. The programs and content are divided into sections according to the grade of the kids. This initiative is helpful as kids need to know about space from an early age. Apart from that, NASA’s picture of the day, video of the day, NASA TV, and other high definition videos make for a complete visual treat that also gives you a deeper understanding of the space.
If you’re a fan of NASA like I am, getting their t-shirt doesn’t necessarily mean you have to go and work for the company. You can get your favourite NASA merchandise like t-shirts men on Voxpop. Just place your order online, and we’ll make sure to deliver it to your doorstep.
